Pest Management

Proper Identification of pests is critical to determining the correct actions to be taken for mitigation. Once identified we create an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program utilizing environmentally minded and acute application methods for managing destructive pests.

Emerald Ash borer has been identified in N. Colorado AND prophylactic treatments are NOT recommended, each tree’s specific situation determines what is the best mode of action to take for responsibly managing the tree, contact a Certified Arborist educated in pest management to asses your tree(s) situation and appropriate IPM.

WHY TO DEEP ROOT IRRIGATE AND APPLY SOIL AMENDMENTS

  • Encourage strong anchor root growth
  • Increase overall root biome health, thus tree health
  • Increase nutrient and water availability
  • Increase tree vigor and natural pest resistance
  • Irrigation with accurate application rate and placement to insure tree/plant is receiving  adequate water
  • Encourage young tree roots to grow out from base and deep, not at the surface.
  • Enrich poor soil structure from construction compaction
  • Water conservation in application of irrigating deep-root
  • Increase water availability with soil amendments

Winter Watering Trees

Despite the winter ‘dormant-season’ trees still transpire water, especially in the windy arid environment of Northern Colorado! Insure tree health and provide available water to roots during times of drought, deep-root irrigate in the fall before the ground freezes!

Why Soil Amendments?

Root and soil interactions are chemically driven process to create nutrient and water availability.  Fertilization is not always the answer to mitigating issues in the soil.  Amendments such as Humic and Fulvic acids encourage and create an environment of increased nutrient and water availability, and beneficial micro-organisms critical to Plant Health Care (PHC).

Fertilization Application

The necessity of fertilizer applications is best assessed by a knowledgable professional for proper diagnosis of the need and a proper prescription rate of application.  Soil testing is necessary sometimes to be sure of what is the situation in the soil that is causing plants and trees to be showing signs of deficiency stressing.  Earth to Sky llc. is educated in soil sciences by CSU and can conduct a visual assessment and soil test for you and determine accurate, appropriate action to take.
